Responsibilities for the Product Developer
1. Perform market research to identify key trends, customer preferences, and competitor insights to inform product development.
2. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, procurement, and production, to ensure seamless product development and successful launches.
3. Develop new product recipes, taking into account ingredient functionality, cost, and nutritional requirements.
4. Partner with third-party manufacturers to ensure market-leading innovation and high-quality standards.
5. Manage and document product trials, both internally and with external suppliers or manufacturers.
6. Conduct in-depth product testing, including sensory analysis, shelf-life assessments, and nutritional evaluations.
7. Ensure accurate maintenance of product specifications, costings, and relevant documentation.
8. Keep informed of industry trends, new ingredients, and emerging technologies to drive cutting-edge product development.
9. Address and resolve technical challenges that arise during the product development process.
10. Provide ongoing support for post-launch production, ensuring a smooth process and performing follow-up evaluations.
11. Create packaging and design briefs that align with market demands and brand identity.
12. Coordinate and attend product photo shoots to capture high-quality visuals.
13. Contribute engaging content for social media and communications channels to promote new product offerings.
Requirements for the Product Developer
1. 3+ years of experience in an NPD role, ideally in a brand or own-label environment.
2. Strong background in food, nutrition, and product development.
3. Proven success in launching new products from concept to market.
4. Proficiency in MS Excel, Google Sheets, and other relevant software.
5. Hands-on experience with food manufacturing and development.
