About Our Apprenticeships Our apprenticeships are paid roles where you will learn and gain valuable on the job experience, whilst also completing classroom-based learning either in person or virtually with a college, university or training provider which upon completion of the apprenticeship leads to a nationally recognised qualification. The apprenticeship will typically be undertaken over two to six years depending on the level of the apprenticeship, and during this time you will be provided with real life experience working on a variety of exciting projects that are helping to shape tomorrow’s world. Job Description Our apprenticeships span a range of different sectors and are based within a variety of different teams working on a wide range of projects, so as you can imagine, each role varies. As a Rail Systems Engineering Degree Apprentice your duties will include: Track alignment design to identify the optimum route for new railways or modifications to the existing rail network; Inspection and analysis of rail infrastructure through both desktop studies and site surveys; Gauging of structures and platforms to ensure safety of passengers and rolling stock; Design and specification of the track infrastructure to optimise performance and resilience; and Preparation of engineering reports, calculations, specifications, BIM models and CAD drawings. We are currently recruiting into our teams in either Croydon, Manchester or York. Candidate Specification Requirements To join us for a Rail Systems Engineering Degree Apprenticeship you must meet the eligibility requirements of the relevant training provider. These are: 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade 4/C or above including English and Maths 3 A Levels (or equivalent) with at least 2 Grade Bor above including a maths or maths based subject. (112UCAS points) We Are Looking For Students With The Following Characteristics A methodical approach to problem solving. The ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently. Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members.
