Contract Manager

Your new role
The Contracts Manager will take a lead role in the development of the customer relationship, contractual compliance and the achievement of financial targets. Responsible on behalf of the Head of Contracts for ensuring the delivery of contractual obligations under the Train Services Agreement (TSA) and Manufacture and Supply Agreement (MSA) for the East Coast Intercity Express Programme (IEP).
* Deliver the contractual obligations under the Train Services Agreement (TSA) and Manufacture and Supply Agreement (MSA) for the East Coast Intercity Express Programme (IEP).
* Ensure that contractual obligations are understood, and to develop and embed these requirements within the team and business processes.
* Promote and establish governance based on Hitachi policies and good business practice, aligning and interfacing with Global processes as required.
* Deliver strong contractual performance, ensuring consistent achievement of financial targets and, where they fall short, take appropriate remedial action to drive continuous improvement.
* Proactively lead, direct and advise key internal stakeholders on all aspects of contractual performance.
* Ensure that emerging trends in contractual performance are promptly and efficiently realised and acted upon to drive improvement.
* Support business activity undertaking analysis of financial and contractual information, assessing, making recommendations and putting in place actions in order to mitigate commercial risk.
* Support contract negotiations with external customers and suppliers and facilitate the review, drafting and negotiation of contracts including managing Variation Orders (VOs) and change requests from the Operator and Owner.
* Manage Operator Responsible Damage through the Damage & Vandalism (D&V) process; ensuring timely capture and recovery of costs.
* Manage Disputes, Remedial Events and Notifiable Events.
* Ensure that contractual reports necessary to comply with the contract are delivered to a high quality and on time, taking responsibility for the design, preparation, compilation and issuing as required.
* Responsible for managing compliance with the requirements of the Train Services Agreement (TSA) and Manufacture and Supply Agreement (MSA).
* Promote and safeguard the commercial interests of the project through cross-functional collaboration.
* Support business case development and investment appraisals.
* Establish positive business relationships between LNER and Hitachi and take a leading role in managing the relationship.
About you
Essential
Licences / Competences
* Strong customer focus.
* Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
* Astute contractual and commercial awareness and demonstrable business acumen.
* Proven background in presenting complex information up to senior executive level.
* Experience operating in an engineering/technical environment.
* Intermediate IT skills – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
* Management & Leadership qualification or equivalent experience.

* Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills: must have ability to deliver confident and persuasive briefs up to executive level.
* Excellent leadership and ability to influence diverse teams.
