An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Oral Health Promoter to work within our friendly and enthusiastic Community Dental Team. We are looking to recruit a highly motivated Oral Health Promoter to assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of oral health programmes which will raise the awareness and improve the oral health of people living within Gateshead, South Tyneside and Sunderland. The post holder will have a background in oral health education with evidence of continuous professional development and teaching skills. They will have excellent communication skills and have the ability to work under pressure working well within a team and have the skills to work autonomously. They must hold current registration with the GDC, a recognised dental nurse qualification along with a qualification in oral health education or equivalent, with proven track record of delivering oral health interventions. Main duties of the job This is an exciting opportunity to playing a leading role in delivering the oral health promotion to the population across Gateshead, South Tyneside and Sunderland. As part of the role you will be expected to introduce and facilitate Oral Health Promotion programmes, at a variety of settings, dependent on the assigned programme, this may include nurseries, schools, community, care home, health and other settings You will assist with the planning, delivery and evaluation of oral health programmes and projects, which reflect national and local policy guidance. Work together with carers and other professionals within NHS and Local Authority to develop programmes of care and offer specialised advice, support and training on mouth care for individuals and client groups You will participate in the planning, implementation and delivery of programmes of local activity including local campaigns, exhibitions and media promotion to support national campaigns of public awareness regarding oral health issues i.e. National No smoking Day, National Smile Month, Mouth Cancer Action.
