A full-time, permanent vacancy has arisen in Bronglais General Hospital for an Alcohol Liaison Nurse.
The successful post holder will:
1. Work in collaboration with the Mental Health, Clinical and Nursing staff across the Primary and Secondary care sectors in the provision of highly specialised care to patients with Alcohol Misuse.
2. Assist the Clinical Team in the delivery of any relevant aspect of patient care from diagnosis to discharge.
3. Provide assessment, advice, information and referral for individuals experiencing alcohol misuse problems in the general hospital setting.
4. Promote health, prevent disease and promote independence wherever possible.
5. Participate where required in the education of staff, patients and the public.
6. Participate in the development of the substance across the Health Board and Primary Care.
Main duties of the job
Duties of this role will include:
1. Working within agreed team protocols to accept direct referrals from Primary and Secondary Care Health/Social Care Professionals.
2. Providing assessment, advice, information and referral for individuals experiencing alcohol misuse problems.
3. Demonstrating the ability to deal with complex physical and psychological needs and use judgements in negotiating and adapting patient care to provide solutions when required.
4. Acting as a resource in providing advice regarding care, treatment and management of alcohol misuse problems for patients/public/relatives/carers and other healthcare professionals.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and Knowledge
* Registered Nurse Level 1 Nursing Qualification.
* Teaching qualification.
* Demonstrate evidence of post-registration education and professional updating to post-graduate diploma level.
* Advanced understanding of treatments relating to substance use.
* RMN.
Experience
* Nursing experience in nursing patients with alcohol misuse.
* Proven Clinical Assessment Skills.
* Can demonstrate a record of achievement in developing clinical practice.
* Leadership skills in managing change in practice.
* Participation in audit and evaluation of a service.
* Awareness of national site specific.
* Evidence of developing multidisciplinary protocols.
* Experience of service development.
Language Skills
* Welsh Speaker (Level 1).
