ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT PUPIL PERSONNEL SERVICES
Requirements
1. A minimum of five years of administrative experience in special education.
2. Proven experience in the areas of social work, psychology, speech and language, English as a New Language, guidance and/or related areas.
3. Proven experience developing and implementing strategic plans for PPS.
4. Possess leadership attributes as stated in the Portrait of a Hastings Learner: Bold, Collaborative, Empathetic, Empowered, Inquisitive and Inventive.
5. Comprehensive knowledge of federal and State legal requirements governing special education, ENL, and homelessness.
6. Experience with federal grants, State grants, and reporting requirements.
7. Comprehensive knowledge of instructional best practices and structures that support student learning, especially as they apply to special education and ENL curriculum, programs, practices, and related services.
8. Experience using data and evidence to establish clear and measurable goals to monitor students’ progress and evaluate instructional programs.
9. Expertise in the hiring, supervision, and evaluation of faculty and staff to promote professional growth and ensure high standards of professional accountability in diverse educational settings.
10. Expertise as an instructional leader, capable of serving as a lead professional developer for a diverse and talented student services faculty.
11. Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and community agencies, including students, parents, faculty and administration, CPSE agencies, BOCES administrators, private and residential schools, the courts, and other school districts in a shared commitment to the goals of the district and improving services to students.
12. Proven experience developing and managing district-wide budgets under PPS.
13. Comprehensive experience chairing CSE, CPSE, and 504 meetings.
14. Extensive experience developing IEP and 504 plans.
15. Proven experience in impartial hearings and the mediation/resolution process as required.
16. Experience with implementing the Culturally Responsive Sustaining and Educational Framework (NYSED).
17. Bilingual language skills (Spanish or other) a plus.
18. New York State Administrative Certification: SDL or SDA required.
Twelve-month Tenure Track position, reporting to the Superintendent of Schools. Position start date: August 1, 2025. Salary range: $180,000-$210,000.
