Shirley Parsons are partnering with a leading construction company with a strong portfolio of public sector projects to recruit an Environmental Manager. This is a national role, requiring travel to various sites across the UK. Why This Role?
As an Environmental Manager, you will lead efforts to drive sustainability across a variety of high-profile public sector projects. You'll work closely with internal teams to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, set sustainability targets, and implement initiatives that reduce the company's carbon footprint.
Key Responsibilities:
Environmental Compliance: Ensure all projects meet environmental regulations and standards, including waste management, water use, and carbon reduction. Provide expert guidance to ensure compliance with industry legislation.
Carbon Reduction: Develop and implement strategies to reduce carbon emissions, supporting the company's net-zero targets. Identify carbon reduction opportunities and track progress against science-based targets.
Sustainability Initiatives: Drive sustainability goals on-site, focusing on waste reduction, resource efficiency, and biodiversity net gain. Work with project teams to implement circular economy principles and minimise environmental impact.
Reporting & Data: Support the development of environmental reporting systems to track waste, water, and carbon usage across projects. Ensure that data is accurately collected, reported, and used to drive continuous improvement.
Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with project teams, supply chains, and external stakeholders to align on sustainability goals and ensure environmental best practices are met across all projects.
What We're Looking For:
Experience: Proven experience in an environmental or sustainability role, ideally in the construction industry.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of environmental legislation, sustainability frameworks (ISO 14001, SECR, TCFD), and carbon reduction strategies.
Skills: Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence teams and external partners.
Travel: Willingness to travel to multiple project sites across the UK.
