Are you a resilient and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant looking for a rewarding role in education? If so, GSL Education are seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant to join a school in Southbourne on either a full-time or part-time basis, with an immediate start. This is an excellent opportunity to support students who require additional behavioural and emotional guidance to succeed in their learning.
About the Role:
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with students who may display challenging behaviour, helping them to develop positive coping strategies and re-engage with their education. You will play a key role in creating a supportive and structured learning environment, working alongside teachers and pastoral teams to promote student well-being.
Behaviour Support Assistant Responsibilities:
* Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with behavioural challenges.
* Assist in implementing behaviour management strategies to promote a positive learning atmosphere.
* Build trusting relationships with students, offering guidance and encouragement.
* Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to support individual behaviour plans.
* De-escalate challenging situations and use positive reinforcement techniques.
* Monitor and report on student progress, adapting strategies as needed.
Behaviour Support Assistant Requirements:
* Previous experience working with students with behavioural needs, SEMH, or SEND.
* A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to working with young people.
* Strong communication and de-escalation skills.
* Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to different situations.
* Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
