Job summary
The main purpose of this role is to provide administrative support to the Senior Research Governance Officer (SRGO) and the Research and Innovation Manager in delivering an efficient and effective Research service for the trust.
The post holder, under the direction of the SRGO and Research and Innovation Manager, will be responsible for a range of specialist administrative processes and will assist in the set up and review of research studies hosted by Harrogate & District NHS Foundation Trust (HDFT). They will also play an important part in providing research governance advice to researchers and HDFT staff on the feasibility of potential new studies as well as supporting other R&I process such as amendments, performance management and the EDGE IT System. They will be expected to support the Research and Innovation Manager undertaking administrative tasks and managing her busy schedule.
Main duties of the job
Assist and support the Senior Research Governance Officer (SRGO) with activities relating to Capacity and Capability Assessments for research studies in line with local SOPs and Health Research Authority guidance. This will involve working and communicating with Laboratory Research Services, Pharmacy Clinical Trials, Radiology and Research Teams as well as external Sponsors and Clinical Research Organisations.
Assist with completing Capacity and Capability Assessments and all activities relating to this as requested by the SRGO for those studies deemed as simple and non-complex in line with local Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Health Research Authority (HRA) guidance.
Maintain an accurate database of new research studies received, declined, completed and returned for each research specialty/discipline.
Create information sheets for each research specialty, detailing new research studies where an expression of interest/feasibility has been submitted and updated monthly ready for dissemination.
Assist with trial feasibility completion including information gathering across teams, completing Expression of Interest templates and facilitate the return of these to the NIHR RDN and/or Sponsor within the timeframes noted.

1. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience
2. Experience of research governance in clinical research in the NHS, academic or commercial environment.
3. Experience of data entry
4. Knowledge of Information Governance policies and issues
5. Experience of finance systems, such as EDGE invoicing
6. Experience of data management systems
7. Advance skills in the use of word processing, Excel spreadsheets, presentation and research software.
