We are currently looking for established Seniors to join established children's homes based in Plumsted and Swanley! This exciting opportunity is to join two 4 bed homes for children between the ages of 8 and 18 who have emotional and behavioral difficulties.
The primary objective is to provide the young people with a safe, stable, happy and comfortable home. The ambition is to build the Young People's confidence, self-esteem and resilience as they progress into adult life.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. A Senior ensures young people take an active role in contributing to the running of the home and that their views and concerns are listened to and appropriately responded to.
2. The Senior is responsible and accountable for the day-to-day line management and supervision of Care and Support Mentors within the home.
3. To have a shared responsibility for the training and development of care staff and others as required.
4. To provide and oversee the required paperwork related to managing a children's home.
5. The Senior will facilitate inspection visits from regulatory bodies and routine regulation 44 inspections ensuring all relevant information is accessible and easily available.
6. To support staff in their interactions with young people, attend and chair multi-disciplinary meetings, team meetings, house meetings, attend LAC reviews, PEP reviews and other meetings at the request of the local authority, conduct debriefs and reflective practice when necessary.
7. To have responsibility for designing and implementing evening/weekend and holiday programs, ensuring the wishes of all young people are considered.
8. To organise the appropriate use of staff, to ensure that the workload for the area is adequately covered and to delegate to other staff as appropriate.
9. To ensure effective communication (verbal and written) with professionals, non-professionals and individuals receiving a service.
10. To analyse own performance and effectiveness by critically appraising interventions, critically reviewing articles and peer review.
Leadership and management:
1. To provide a good example of leadership, through effective team working, flexibility, enthusiasm and commitment to the organisation.
2. At all times to provide a good role model of practice and professional behaviour.
3. To mentor and supervise the development of staff.
4. Assist in the recruitment and selection of staff and ensuring this complies with policy and procedure and legislation.
5. To motivate and guide staff in the provision of a high standard of service.
Essential Criteria:
1. Driving Licence
2. NVQ Level 3 Residential Childcare
3. 1 year experience working within a Children's Residential home
4. Due to the high degree of contact with vulnerable children and young people this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure.
