Role Overview: We are seeking passionate, empathetic, and patient individuals to join our team as Adhoc SEN Teaching Assistants. This is a flexible supply role, perfect for those looking to work on an on-call basis and support students with complex needs. You will assist teachers in delivering tailored education and care to students with various special educational needs, including autism, learning disabilities, communication difficulties, and physical disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support the class teacher in delivering a highly individualised curriculum to meet the specific needs of students.
2. Assist with personal care, communication support, and mobility assistance where necessary.
3. Build positive relationships with students to help them feel safe, engaged, and included in all aspects of school life.
4. Work one-on-one or in small groups to support the emotional, social, and academic development of students.
5. Implement behaviour management strategies and interventions, ensuring a calm and supportive environment.
6. Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, and parents regarding the progress and needs of students.
7. Adapt to different classrooms and student needs, providing flexible and responsive support.
Requirements:
1. Experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly those with complex needs, is desirable.
2. A compassionate, patient, and flexible approach to working with children and young people.
3. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
4. A willingness to assist with personal care tasks if required.
5. A relevant qualification (such as NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) is advantageous but not essential.
6. An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
