My client is seeking a Legal Cashier to join their busy team on a permanent basis in Plymouth, Devon.
The Legal Cashier will be responsible for managing the financial transactions of the firm, ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules, and maintaining accurate financial records. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal finance and a keen eye for detail.
The Role
Key responsibilities will include (along with the other members of the Cashiers team):
1. Process client and office account transactions, including receipts, payments, and transfers.
2. Reconcile bank statements and ensure all discrepancies are resolved promptly.
3. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in accordance with SRA Accounts Rules.
4. Prepare and submit VAT returns and other financial reports as required.
5. Assist with month-end and year-end financial closing processes.
6. Liaise with fee earners and support staff to ensure efficient financial operations.
7. Handle queries related to financial transactions and provide support to the finance team.
8. Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
The Individual
1. Previous experience as a Legal Cashier or in a similar role within a law firm.
2. Strong knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules and legal accounting practices.
3. Proficiency in legal accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
4. Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
5. Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
