The Role: The role of a STE4 Examiner will be responsible for carrying out visual and detailed examinations on all railway structure types. The examiner will report directly to the Examinations Manager and ensure inspections are completed safely to a high standard and within timescale. The examiner will be expected to conduct all site activities with the support and management of the Examinations Manager, giving daily progress reports and have a good working understanding of how to plan and carry out inspections safely and efficiently. Key Responsibilities: Carry out visual and detailed Inspections including BCMI on railway structures to NR standards NR/L3/CIV/006 Ensuring all examinations are in line with compliance, safety and quality standards You will be able to conduct yourself on site in a courteous and obliging manor with clients and members of the public. Have a proactive approach in planning your day / week ensuring any access arrangements are arranged in order to carry out the inspections. Report and escalate any issues or lost time to your line manager as needed. The examinations manager will be on hand for tasks that require more than one person. Essentials we are looking for… Have experience in carrying out visual and detailed inspections to NR standards NR/L3/CIV/006 Carry a valid STE4 competency Have a valid PTS / IWA certificate Good understanding of materials/defects and risk scoring Have knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations with excellent problem-solving and communication skills Have a good working knowledge of rail and high street environment A full UK driving licence is required Have good written and verbal communication skills Have strong problem-solving skills Be computer literate Be punctual and reliable Stuff we’d love, but isn’t essential HNC/D Civil Engineering Have an in-date COSS qualification Experience working in a remote environment. A level of travel will be required.
