An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic full time, Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly, supportive, and hardworking team.
The post is based within the Adult Acute Team at University College London Hospital (UCH). The team can offer support if you are newly qualified, or further develop your skills if you already have experience and developing interests. You would be responsible for the assessment and management of adult patients with communication and swallowing disorders in the inpatient setting. Our caseload is varied, but includes patients on general medicine, medicine for the elderly, acquired neurology, respiratory, gastroenterology, infectious diseases, and oncology wards.
You will be provided with supervision, managerial, and leadership support. Our service also offers an established supervision system and a range of opportunities for learning and participation in self and service development.
HCPC registration is required at the time of application; individuals who do not yet have their registration need not apply.

You would be responsible for the assessment and management of speech, language, and swallow disorders in the adult acute inpatient population. Primary duties include:
• Assessment and management of patients with communication impairments.
• Assessment and management of patients with dysphagia, under supervision until competencies are met.
• Working closely within the SLT and MDT teams.
• You will show that you are able to organise, plan and prioritise your own workload.
• You will have excellent interpersonal and teamworking skills.
• You will have excellent reflection skills and the ability to demonstrate change and improvement

This post is a full time, permanent post based within the Adult Acute Team at University College Hospital. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing a Speech and Language Therapy service across the full range of communication and swallowing impairments, within the areas of general medicine on the acute wards. There is a strong emphasis on dysphagia, and this constitutes the majority of the caseload. The post holder will work flexibly across the general acute wards, as assigned by your supervisor and Clinical Lead. You will be provided with managerial and leadership support, and the SLT service offers an established supervision system and a range of opportunities for learning and participation in self and service development as appropriate.
The post holder will be part of a small, flexible Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapy team based at UCH at all times.
