What it's like to work here
Ullswater valley is truly breath-taking, with its beautiful lake nestled amongst towering fells. The epic scenery and relative underdevelopment compared to other areas of the Lake District gives Ullswater a secluded and tranquil feel.
Our largest property in Ullswater is Aira Force, a showcase for the power and beauty of nature; it’s a place to escape the ordinary.
For 300 years visitors have been drawn here, where rainwater runs from the fells into Aira Beck and thunders in one 65-foot leap over the falls. Yet, Aira Force is much more than an impressive waterfall. A network of trails weaves its way from Ullswater lakeshore to Gowbarrow summit, passing towering Himalayan firs, rare red squirrels, woodland glades, picnic spots and views out across Ullswater.
This role will mainly be based at Aira Force and other NT locations in the Ullswater valley; however, you may be asked to work in other locations in the Lake District with prior arrangement.
What you'll be doing
Great visitor experiences are in our nature, and we believe everyone should feel welcomed, appreciated and more engaged because of the excellent service you provide. This role would suit anyone with enthusiasm for delivering great customer service.
You will be working in the outdoors, welcoming our visitors; providing help and guidance on where to park, processing car parking payments and providing information on National Trust membership, offering options and advice on potential walking trails and providing any other information our visitors may need to have a fantastic day out.
You will also help to look after the car parks and surrounding areas through regular facilities tasks, signage checks and litter picking. Our presentation standards are important to us, and you will work alongside the rest of the team to ensure we keep the whole site safe, functioning well and looking great.
As well as ensuring great day-to-day visits for our visitors, you will also play your part in delivering our programming offer. From everyday activities to annual events, you will be working with the team to deliver memorable experiences for a wide range of people.
