Head of Delivery – ESD Location - Glasgow An opportunity has arisen in Glasgow for a Head of Delivery to join the team at Galliford Try. The Head of Delivery (HoD) is accountable for successful delivery of ESD’s non infrastructure capital programmes to Scottish Water (SW). The role reports directly to ESD’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), overseeing all projects delivered through the remainder of the SR15 and developing SR21 programmes of work; leading overall coordination and management of teams and projects through a capital delivery cycle primarily from Gate 70 (pre-construction) through detailed design, construction, commissioning to handover and Gate 120 commercial closeout. In addition the HoD will be responsible for ensuring ESD maintains critical input and support during SW’s early Gate 50 to 70 solution development stages, providing project execution and constructability advice supporting the seamless and efficient transfer of projects through all stages of development and ultimately to completion; delivering best value solutions satisfying SW’s regulatory and growth drivers. Total portfolio under the HoD is c.£800m. Role Overview: The HoD will work closely with the COO, leading ESD’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT), drawing upon the support of peer SLT members including Heads of Pre-Construction, Engineering, Construction, Business Operations, Commercial, HSE and People. As the senior SLT member, the HoD will support the COO in forming and maintaining close relationships with all Scottish Water stakeholders in addition to delivering ESD’s responsibilities to the respective JV Boards. This is a senior director role requiring a breadth of relevant industry experience in delivering major capital programmes for utility clients and a proven track record of delivering to time, cost and quality targets. The role requires commercial acumen and the ability to deliver successful portfolio outcomes, strengthen client relationship and engage and align the commitment of all stakeholders to deliver both ESD and SW visons. Key Responsibilities: Head of Delivery HoD shall have overall responsibility for the overall coordination and management of the SR15 and SR21 delivery portfolios from Gate 70 to Gate 120, ensuring outputs and performance meet the outputs required of the ESD FW contracts Form excellent relationships with ESD SLT members ensuring all delivery aspects are represented in optimum solution delivery strategies Lead the team safely ensuring rigorous adherence to Time, Cost, and Quality requirements in line with the commercial model agreed with Scottish Water Co-ordination of all pre-con and constructability input during solutions identification, design development and construction stages Manage the various SW departmental stakeholders to ensure buy-in of delivered solutions Ensure rigorous project management processes are developed and maintained that result in positive outcomes Ensure control of accurate management of scope including contractual change Provide an overview and sign-off of governance and gate completion documentation Forming effective relationships with the various project-delivery disciplines and programme stakeholders Develop the delivery strategy for projects as they pass through Scottish Water’s Gated governance process Work closely with Supply Chain lead building delivery relationships that will assist effective outcomes on value for money, quality, safety, and constructability Ensure at all times alignment with key Client’s vision through delivery of the contract Ensure solutions are delivered sustainably with cost and carbon opportunities realised Set and maintain the delivery strategy to align with SW’s outcome requirements · Hold accountability for the commercial performance of the projects passing through SW’s governance gateways Maintain and influence opportunities to support off-setting of the Target Efficiency Factor Reviewing and implementing improvement plans relative to health and safety KPI information. Manage the Operational Team resource, forecast and plan to meet changing requirements. Manage and mentor approximately 6 direct reports (Operations Leads) Lead in establishing productive client and subcontract relationships Produce reports and board papers as required Experience and Qualifications: Strong technical knowledge. Proven Track record of managing multi-disciplinary operations staff across multiple sites Motivational individual – good leadership qualities. Aware of individual Health and Safety responsibilities and adheres to company health and safety policy and procedures. Able to demonstrate alignment with the Galliford Try values - Excellence, Passion, Integrity and Collaboration.
