The Role We believe that what we do is a privilege - supporting families and bringing their deceased loved ones into our care with the upmost dignity and respect. Y0u will facilitate our frontline mortuary care, receiving clients into our care facility in Knutsford. You will receive and “track” ashes into our care facility, before then “checking out” the ashes each evening ready for the Ashes Team to return to our client's families. What does our successful Mortuary attendant look like? The ideal applicant will ideally have experience of working in the funeral sector although this is not essential. This post will be Mon-Fri, with core hours 8.30-5.00, however this role requires flexibility to occasionally cover weekends and bank holidays, annual leave, and unexpected circumstances, as part of a highly specialised team. Key Responsibilities Ensuring our clients are placed in the correct size coffins. Ensuring that you allocate mortuary bays, using our bay allocation technology to register their exact resting locations. On receipt of a client into your care, ensure that you conduct all the necessary ID checks. Accurately check legal paperwork and internal systems. Correctly process all associated paperwork. Preparation of clients for the cremation process, removing harmful implants, (ie pacemaker) and ensuring that you follow any special instructions given by the applicant in relation to personal effects and jewellery. Preparation of repatriated clients for cremation and to arrange disposal of the associated zinc lining in accordance with company policy. Cataloguing and recording all personal effects and jewellery and updating the mortuary register in line with company policy. Ensuring that the mortuary is clean, safe and secure at all times. Ensuring that no un-authorised access is given to the mortuary area. Ensuring that all valuables are always kept safe and secure. Preparing and placing nameplates on coffins, where appropriate, for clients where families have selected an attended service. Liaising and working closely with the Operations Manager Knutsford, to report the requirement for maintenance or repair of specialist equipment utilised in the mortuary. Monitoring and recording mortuary stock levels and will be responsible for reporting stock levels to the Operations Manager. Ensure that appropriate clinical waste and Infection control protocols are always followed. You will ensure that all personnel always working in and around the mortuary act with the upmost respect, ensuring also that company expectations relating to behaviours are followed. You will be responsible for receiving ashes (following the cremation) and ensuring that the tracking is completed and accurate at all times. You will be responsible for ensuring that Ashes to be returned are planned and laid out for the Ashes Return team in line with the company procedure. Keep the company vehicles you always use in a good condition and presentable, ensuring that faults are reported. Ensure your vehicle is roadworthy before commencing your journey and log or report any issues to the Knutsford Operations Manager. Drive within the law and be courteous to other road users to reflect the company in a positive way. Adhere and follow all company policies and procedures.
