About the Role
As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will deliver engaging and high-quality training in Functional Skills (English and Maths) at Levels 1 and 2, using approved resources and digital platforms. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Delivering training both remotely and face-to-face to suit the needs of learners and employers.
2. Creating and implementing tailored training plans based on individual learner requirements.
3. Supporting learners to develop confidence and competence in preparation for their exams.
4. Monitoring and recording learner progress, ensuring timely completion of training programmes.
5. Working closely with the Exams Officer and other Tutors to track and support learner success.
6. Encouraging and motivating learners, addressing barriers to learning and progression.
Essential Criteria
To excel in this role, you will need:
1. A recognised Teaching Qualification and proven experience in delivering Functional Skills training at Levels 1 and 2, both remotely and face-to-face.
2. Level 2 qualifications in Numeracy and Literacy.
3. Experience in engaging with employers, ideally within a training or customer relations context.
4. Experience in Further Education, Apprenticeships, or a similar educational environment.
5. Strong IT skills, including experience with e-portfolios and digital learning tools.
6. The ability to motivate and inspire learners, ensuring timely completion of their training.
7. A full driving licence, access to a vehicle, and a willingness to travel to employer sites.
8. A reliable internet connection for remote working.
Desirable Criteria
An assessor qualification (TAQA, CAVA, or equivalent).
