The Council’s Corporate Strategy puts the Borough’s natural and built environment at the heart of the Council, upcoming projects, and our decision-making. You will play a key part in delivering our Corporate Strategy by working as a proactive Planning Officer, assessing and determining a varied range of planning applications in the Havant Borough and interpreting and applying planning policy.
We are looking for someone who wishes to use their excellent organisational, negotiation, and communication skills to advise, guide, and negotiate with applicants on a wide range of development sites. As such, the role contributes to the provision of an efficient and effective Planning Service that makes a positive contribution to the built and natural environment of the Borough of Havant, facilitating sustainable economic growth and development.
Working within a team, you will have a real desire to make the Borough a great place to live and work. The successful candidate will have a degree or equivalent in planning or land use or be working towards such a qualification.
This is a career graded post, but given our current casework, we are particularly keen to hear from officers with existing experience in Development Management who can hit the ground running and handle a wide range of minor development proposals. In that regard, the post offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their career in terms of influence and responsibility. In return, the Council will support you to continue to grow and develop in the role, taking on new tasks and responsibilities.
