Job Title: Behaviour Support Assistant
Location: Stockport, Greater Manchester
Job Type: Full-Time
Working Hours: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs? We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant to join our supportive team in the Stockport area. In this role, you will work closely with individuals who may display challenging behaviour or have experienced mental trauma, helping them navigate their journey towards positive outcomes and personal growth.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop tailored support plans that address the unique needs of each student.
2. Implement strategies to promote positive behaviour and manage challenges effectively.
3. Offer emotional and practical support to individuals with SEMH needs and mental health difficulties.
4. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and external professionals to ensure cohesive and effective support.
5. Monitor progress, adapting approaches to maximise success and wellbeing.
6. Build trusting relationships, fostering a safe and supportive environment for development.
7. Promote awareness and understanding of SEMH challenges among colleagues and the school community.
Requirements:
1. Previous experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviour, SEMH needs, or mental health difficulties.
2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, staff, and external partners.
3. A calm, empathetic, and patient approach, with resilience in challenging situations.
4. Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
5. Relevant qualifications or training in behaviour support, psychology, social work, or a related field (desirable).
