An opportunity has arisen for a proactive and enthusiastic Deputy Ward Manager to join our team on Ward 10. Ward 10 is a 24 bedded medical ward. We work closely with all members of the multidisciplinary team focusing on providing high quality of care for our patients during their stay. We have 8 respiratory beds and 16 diabetes/ endocrinology beds.
Job Purpose - Takes responsibility for a ward in the absence of the person who has continuing (24 hour) responsibility at Band 7. Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluating programmes of care. The applicant must have excellent communication and leadership skills.
Main duties of the job
1. In consultation with the Ward Sister agree that high standards of care are to be achieved within Ward 10.
2. Ensure that a high standard of care is maintained for patients during their stay on the ward.
3. To manage and participate as appropriate in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care programmes for patients on the ward.
4. In the absence of the Ward Sister to manage, deploy and supervise staff allocated to his/her area and to ensure that all nursing staff are aware of the extent of their remit in planning, prescribing and evaluating nursing care.
5. When deploying nursing staff and allocating clinical teams to specific patients or group of patients ensure that the competencies within that team are appropriate to the care required by the patient.
6. To ensure that the care given is achieved in the most effective and efficient manner commensurate with sensitivity to patient needs.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
