Job Title: Machinist
Location: Ipswich, Suffolk
Salary: £14-15 per hour, plus shift allowance for working a rotating shift pattern
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00 am - 2:00 pm and 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operate and maintain manual machining tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses to produce or repair precision mechanical parts.
2. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and design specifications to understand project requirements and plan machining operations accordingly.
3. Set up, align, and secure work pieces on machinery, ensuring proper configuration and calibration of tools and equipment for each job.
4. Perform accurate measurements using precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify dimensions and tolerances of machined components.
5. Monitor the machining process, making adjustments to feed rates, cutting speeds, and tool positions to ensure quality and adherence to specifications.
6. Inspect finished products for defects, ensuring they meet required quality standards and specifications.
7. Maintain a clean and organised work environment, following safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
