The Role
Assistant Head of Year (Non-Teaching) Term Time Only plus 2 weeks
Join our caring and dedicated pastoral team as an Assistant Head of Year. With a passion for supporting students combined with strong behaviour management skills, you can guide our students and help them achieve the best possible outcome. Our aim is to ensure that our students are given every opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of their background. We are looking to appoint an Assistant Head of Year who will respond to behaviour issues across the school, acting as a trusted adult and a positive role model, whilst providing consistent boundaries.
The Assistant Head of Year will work alongside the pastoral and teaching teams to help create a positive learning environment that is supportive and nurturing.
As well as academic success, we focus on and take great pride in our students' behaviour. We aim for high achievement in an environment which is based on rewards, not sanctions. This is an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Head of Year to help and support our students through their secondary school journey.
Why us?
At Co-op Academy Failsworth, we are a fully inclusive, popular and over-subscribed 11-16 comprehensive Academy with almost 1500 students on roll. In June 2024, OFSTED rated the school good. We are located 3 miles from Manchester city centre, situated 1 mile from junction 22 of the M60. Our priority is to recruit the very best staff for our Academy. Our staff enjoy working at our academy and you would be welcome to speak to them about their experience. The academy is very focused on staff wellbeing.
All our values are based upon the values of the Co-op Group, which will inform our behaviours.
1. Self-help: We do not expect to be spoon-fed – we will try to do things for ourselves in the right way and at the right time.
2. Self-responsibility: Everyone should act in a responsible way around the academy site and in the local community. We take responsibility for our own learning; we want to become independent learners.
3. Equality: We are proud to be part of a very multicultural academy, with students from all over the world; it is important that we treat each other with respect and accept that others may be different from ourselves.
4. Equity: We want to look for the best in each other, rewarding others fairly to encourage all types of achievement.
5. Democracy: We will contribute our ideas to make the academy a success.
6. Solidarity: We can achieve more by working together, rather than as individuals.
