Main duties of the job
To provide support to registered staff with the perioperative care of all patients. The post holder will possess knowledge of surgical procedures and be able to provide support to facilitate the delivery of high quality patient care.
Acting under the direction of registered practitioners the post holder will use available information regarding resource to support the delivery of perioperative care.
The post holder will participate in all aspects of perioperative care delivering direct patient care in a manner sensitive to the individual patient's needs and wishes, acknowledging and respecting their rights and beliefs at all times.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Good standard of secondary education as a minimum English Language and Mathematics or equivalent experience
* NVQ 2 in operating department practice or equivalent experience.
Experience
* Experience working with the public, i.e people skills/relations
* Previous experience in healthcare in an acute environment of at least 6 months
* Theatre experience or equivalent of at least 6 months
* Clinical Skills, i.e venepuncture, OBS, Blood transfusion amongst others
Practical & Intellectual Skill
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Computer Literacy
* Able to work in a Team environment
* Experience in using Galaxy system
