For more information on Celanese, please visit www.celanese.com Around 130 employees and contractors work at the Advanced Elastomer Systems (AES) plant in Newport, South Wales on the River Usk only 12 miles northeast of Cardiff. AES has the capacity to produce over 100,000 tonnes of Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) annually which are marketed under the trademark Santoprene and is one of the world’s leading suppliers of (TPEs). TPEs are products that perform like rubber but can be processed with the speed, efficiency and economy of thermoplastics. In addition to simpler processing, the principal advantages of TPEs include easy recycling, closer control of dimensions and improved product quality vs thermoset rubber. Around 60% of Santoprene sales are to the automotive industry where it is used on car weather seals, under-bonnet applications and for interior parts. The versatile product is used by the construction industry, and for consumer goods such as flexible toothbrushes and grips for kitchen utensils. Santoprene is also used to make parts of medical devices such as vacutainers to take blood samples. Apply today Working as part of a small shift team, Process Technicians with varied skills in either process, electrical/instrument or mechanical are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of their work area. Their focus is on safety, health and the environment, ensuring reliability and operational integrity, while always seeking new ways to improve equipment and systems’ performance. Responsibilities will include: Operating extrusion equipment via control room and field based control systems 1st response to breakdowns, basic fault finding, and support with maintenance and repairs Monitoring plant performance and diagnosing faults Maximise reliability through executing operator care rounds Work within shift to ensure delivery of individual and team responsibilities and objectives Conduct detailed shift handovers Fork lift truck operation – up to 3.5 tes (training will be provided) Issue work permits for operations and tanker offloading areas Key attributes of the Process Technician: Commitment to high standards in safety and quality of work Driven, motivated & committed to ownership and completing tasks The ability to communicate well verbally and via IT-based systems Able to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment while making decisions focused on safety, quality, reliability & performance of the business A flexible attitude to the job and the ability to demonstrate leadership capabilities Keen to learn Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience required: As a minimum, a good general education: Grades A-C at GCSE level including Maths, English and one other Science/Technical subject Experience working in an operational role on a chemical process plant, or related engineering or heavy industry field would be preferred.
