Salary: £44,257 - £52,373
Hours: 36 per week
We have an exciting opportunity for Surveyors to join the High Rise Management and Investment team. The successful applicants will join newly formed teams who are developing both Service areas.
The successful applicant will deliver a full range of building surveying and contract management services to the 50 Council high-rise blocks which encompass a range of specialised and innovative construction methods as part of the Whole House Retrofit Strategy. This will ensure the long-term sustainability and enhance the quality of our high-rise buildings, the homes within and the standard of living for our residents.
You will have the opportunity to work with external multi-disciplinary design teams and contractors on large scale retrofit and upgrade projects across the Council's high-rise estate. We currently have 5 design commissions at various RIBA design stages covering 14 high rise blocks with another five additional blocks scheduled for design of full fabric upgrade this year with a budget of around £250m. We also have a live £60m fire improvement programme covering 30 high rise blocks which is one of the most ambitious domestic fire safety programmes in the UK. Further large scale mechanical and electrical improvement programmes planned to commence early design also this year.
We are looking for candidates who can use their initiative, be innovative in their approach and have a desire to assist and support council tenants and private owners during works being carried out in and around their homes. You should be confident in supporting a busy team and have strong communication skills. The successful candidate will have the relevant qualification, have knowledge and an understanding of tenement legislation and housing, property and construction services. You should have experience of running live projects through to completion with a good understanding of project management and contract administration. You should have procurement, surveys, repair methodology, and report writing skills and be confident to meet and explain technical reports at face-to-face meetings with tenants and owners and be willing to attend occasional evening meetings with residents.
If you are someone who enjoys new opportunities and are interested in working on a range of large and complex major infrastructure programmes promoting best practice in retrofit and health and safety compliance and have strong skills demonstrating our behaviours - respect, integrity and flexibility as well as extensive experience of maintaining and creating a high performing culture, driving change and service delivery, we would love to hear from you.
Requirements
To help achieve this, we're changing the way we interview and assess candidates by moving from a competency-based interview approach to a behavioural and technical (skills for the job) based approach. This new way of interviewing will allow us to assess how you think and how you would bring Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility into your ways of working.
Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
Happy to talk flexible working.
