Senior Energy & Carbon Consultant – Bristol to £65,000 + Car + 20% Bonus & Package

Talent Motion are working with the UK’s leading independent firm of Development, Built Asset, and Engineering and Sustainability consultants to help them find a Senior Energy and Carbon Consultant to join their expanding team in Bristol.

You'll be providing sustainability consulting services to their clients helping them achieve their sustainability goals and drive meaningful change.

You will play a pivotal role in supporting the growth of their UK-wide energy performance and net zero carbon services, working with high-profile commercial properties and developments.
You'll be part of a close-knit team of sustainability professionals, working on cutting-edge projects that cover every stage of a building's life cycle. From strategic sustainability frameworks to energy and carbon solutions, life cycle assessments (LCA), and sustainability certifications (BREEAM, LEED, WELL, and NABERS UK), you'll be involved in the full spectrum of sustainability services.
As part of a growing Engineering and Sustainability team, you’ll be working in an environment where professional development is a key priority. This role offers you the opportunity to work across a variety of exciting projects, primarily in the commercial sector but also in retail, residential, and industrial spaces.
Key Responsibilities:
* Client Engagement: Work directly with clients to understand their energy performance and net zero carbon goals, providing tailored advice and support. Regularly engage with clients to identify opportunities for best practice, new research, and industry collaboration.
* Project Leadership: Lead project teams to incorporate energy and sustainability best practices, inspiring innovation and collaboration across teams in site visits, workshops, and meetings.
* Energy Performance Certification: Manage and deliver energy performance certification projects, including EPC, MEES, DEC, and ESOS assessments, alongside dynamic simulation modelling using IES VE software.
* Sustainability Assessments: Conduct energy and carbon appraisals for existing buildings and new developments, focusing on key considerations like MEES compliance, net zero carbon, and operational energy performance.
* Energy Modelling & Reporting: Assess and model building performance for whole-life carbon appraisals, providing detailed operational energy data and producing accompanying reports.
* Mentorship & Development: Mentor junior team members, helping them develop their expertise in energy and carbon principles, including dynamic simulation modelling and other technical skills.
* Tender Documentation & Contractor Liaison: Draft tender documentation requirements and liaise with contractors as necessary.
* Climate Resilience: Support the development of climate resilience strategies that address the long-term impacts of climate change on energy demand and costs at the asset level.
* Industry Engagement & Business Development: Participate in industry events, working groups, and networking opportunities. You will be encouraged to develop your business development skills, proactively engaging with your network to promote the consultancy and its services.
* Content Creation: Contribute to the preparation of case studies, award submissions, and blogs to showcase the impact of their work.
What we’re looking for:
* Experience in an energy and sustainability consultancy environment, ideally with a focus on carbon reduction and energy performance.
* A degree in mechanical/electrical engineering, environmental engineering, sustainable design, or a related field (an MSc in an energy and low carbon subject is highly desirable).
* Commercially minded, with 3-5 years' experience working with real estate investors, developers, and occupiers.
* Hands-on experience delivering complex projects in the built environment, building services, or engineering, with a strong understanding of low and zero carbon energy strategies.
* Expertise in energy modelling and a working knowledge of UK energy and sustainability regulations, including MEES, Building Regulations, and Part L compliance.
* Proficiency in IES VE software, with a background in dynamic simulation modelling. Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant software (Google SketchUp, Python, MATLAB, VBA, Rhino) is an advantage.
* Ideally, an accredited CIBSE LCEA Level 5 assessor, with 3-5 years of experience in a related role.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
