Axcis Education is currently looking for a youth worker, who is looking to move into school settings, to work at an alternative provision based in Manchester. This is a full time position starting in September 2024, but with potential to begin before the end of the academic year if suitable. You would be working 8.30am - 3.30pm Monday to Friday, either as a 1-1 or in small groups. This role would be a temp to permanent position, working a set number of weeks on supply before joining the school on a permanent basis. The school caters for secondary pupils, who cannot remain in mainstream education. Many of the pupils experience social, emotional and mental health needs. There are other SEND needs within the school, such as autism, ADHD and learning difficulties. There can be challenging behaviour, though this is rare, as the school places a large focus on this area. The school day is often split into more classroom based work in the morning, while the afternoon will be more geared towards extra-curricular activities. Previous experience working with SEMH needs in some form is essential for this role. You must also have experience working with children or young adults in some form. We encourage applicants from care, residential, coaching or youth work backgrounds due to the transferable nature of the skillset. Prior experience with challenging behaviour or with de-escalation techniques would be preferred. Ideally you will be a driver with access to your own vehicle. You will require an enhanced DBS on the update service for this role. If you think you meet the requirements, please send your CV to k INDMAN
