Overview
Provides patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and in accordance with established policies, procedures, and safety limits. The Advanced tech assists the Registered Nurse in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for those patients for whom they are responsible.
Responsibilities
Under direction of the RN, provides direct patient care utilizing patient plan of care. Clinical skills: The care may include, but is not limited to, the following:
1. Obtaining and recording in the EHR, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and pulse oximetry
2. Drawing blood
3. EKG
4. Transporting patients
5. Obtaining urine and stool specimens
6. Performing point of care testing
7. Assisting with ED procedures
8. Measuring and assisting in applying sling, cervical collar, splints, and crutches
9. Bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, ambulating, transferring, feeding
10. Observing and reporting the general well-being of the person(s) to whom they are providing care
11. Documentation of patient reassessments accurately and correctly within specific time
12. Reassessing patient safety facts and identifying those patients requiring special safety devices
13. Reporting test results as required to RN and notifying MD in a timely manner of abnormal results
14. Reassessing educational needs of pt/significant other and providing appropriate written and verbal instruction
15. Transcription of orders
16. Other duties per licensure
Qualifications
* Minimum one year Emergency Department or Critical Care experience

* Clear Communication Skills Both Written And Verbal
* Able To Keep Confidential Information Regarding Patients, Team Members
* Able To Withstand Crisis Situations
* Has Skills To Provide Customer Service To Patients, Team Members And Visitors
* Knowledge And Experience With Electronic Health Records
Credentials
* BLS – Basic Life Saving Certification
* PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support (preferred)
Education
* LPN or NREMT-P (Nationally Registered Paramedic)
