SCBM Services is a business management consultancy specialising in the education sector. The consultancy also supports the Werton Nursery Group, owned by the same Directors.
The Senior Bookkeeper provides comprehensive support to SCBM Services and Werton Group, assisting with financial record keeping, calculations of fee income, payroll, and supporting the day-to-day financial transactions of the business. This role is suitable for someone with exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, confidence with numbers, business acumen and the ability to handle multiple tasks whilst maintaining a high level of professionalism.
This role would suit a candidate with strong finance experience looking to play a strong part in a close-knit team of finance professionals within a growing business.
What You'll Do
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping and financial record management.
2. Calculating Nursery fees for our growing chain of nurseries.
3. Weekly payment runs.
4. Prepare management accounts, reconciliations, and cash flow reports.
5. Support payroll, VAT returns, and other compliance tasks.
6. Work closely with management to provide financial insights and reporting.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Calculating nursery fees per child and prepare financial models for nursery income.
2. Oversee the payroll process and ensure payroll journals and Xero reconciliations are accurately posted and HMRC and Pensions are paid in a timely manner.
3. Review supplier invoices, preparing weekly payments for approval.
4. Budget control and cashflow management.
5. Use relevant technology platforms, such as Xero, FrontApp, Monday.com, and HubStaff.
6. Support the nursery application process by obtaining HMRC funding codes from parents and inputting them into the designated portal.
7. Perform other finance-related tasks as required.
What We're Looking For
1. Finance and bookkeeping qualifications and experience.
2. Proficient in Xero, Microsoft Office (in particular MS Excel) and ability to easily adapt to systems/software.
3. Strong organisational skills and a methodical working style.
4. Task-oriented with the ability to manage and deliver on multiple priorities.
5. High attention to detail.
6. Positive, can-do attitude and a team player mindset.
