We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Graduate Fire Engineers to join our Fire Engineering team in London, Manchester or Edinburgh.
What does the role involve?
Working on a diverse range of projects you will provide strategic fire safety advice across the UK for the whole construction sector including commercial, residential, industrial and infrastructure. This role presents a real depth and breadth of some of our most exciting project schemes and the opportunity to work in a team of highly skilled and talented engineers.
Our fire engineering project roles continue throughout the project lifecycle, from initial concept design through to construction. Collaborating with clients and external stakeholders is a key part of the role through delivering presentations and you will also be involved in contributing to design team meetings to ensure designs follow the fire strategies that have been agreed.
As a Graduate Fire Engineer, day to day activities include the following with support from a senior member of the Fire Engineering Team:
1. Attending design team meetings internally and externally.
2. Reviewing and marking up design proposals.
3. Liaising with design team members i.e. Mechanical, Electrical, Public Health Engineers as well as Architects and clients.
4. Critical thinking in supporting the design team to overcome the Fire Safety challenges.
5. Producing technical reports to support the design through approval process.
6. Undertaking detailed Fire Engineering analysis including using computer modelling tools i.e. CFD and Evacuation.
7. Meeting and discussions with the Approving Authorities.
What do you need to apply?
We are seeking graduates who:
1. Have a degree in a subject relevant to the role you’re applying for.
2. Have less than 12 months relevant work experience (excluding placements).
3. Are confident using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint).
4. Are driven and solution orientated.
5. Can work in the UK with no restrictions. This unfortunately means that we are unable to accept candidates who require sponsorship. This is a permanent role, and we are looking for candidates who can grow and develop their careers with Sweco, we are therefore unable to accept applications from those on a graduate visa due to their time limits.
