Central Surrey Health are currently looking for a Band 3 Respiratory Technician to join their Respiratory Care Team based at Walton Community Hospital. The RCT provides specialist clinical advice and care, supporting the delivery of commissioned activities to adult patients within the Northwest Surrey area.
Main duties of the job
Within this role, you will support with active case management to patients and carers within their home environment, at pulmonary rehabilitation programmes, during oxygen assessments and at specialist clinics/community hubs. You will provide clinical and administrative support to the clinical team. Training will be provided for clinical support and no previous respiratory experience is required.

Communication / Relationship Skills
1. To actively participate in multi-disciplinary meetings.
2. To support effective communication both internally and externally.
3. To evaluate, assess and monitor clients' progress in relation to their goals and care plans and to record accurately then report back any changes or concerns to an appropriate staff member.
4. To empower clients, families and carers by ensuring that they have an understanding of the care and treatment offered.
5. To provide an advocacy role by supporting clients, families and carers in articulating their concerns or needs.
6. To maintain accurate documentation as required by the RCT in a clear and timely way.
7. Communicate effectively with patients and carers, recognising individual needs and utilising a range of agreed communications e.g. electronic mail (email), SMS messaging (texting).
8. Maintain confidentiality at all times, as required by legislation and trust policy.

1. Work as an effective and responsible team member, supporting others by demonstrating good practice including utilising mechanisms to develop and implement new ways of working including using information technology where appropriate.
2. Participate in team activities that create opportunities to improve patient care.
3. Adhere to the organisation's policy for handling, recording and safe keeping of patients' property.
4. Work under the direction of the registered clinical practitioner and assist in the implementation of care according to the individualised care plan and contribute to the development and review of the care plans.
5. Liaising with clients, colleagues, family and other professionals in ensuring that integrated quality care is provided. This will include assisting clients to learn new skills that promote independence.
6. To empower clients and adopt a problem-solving approach by encouraging and giving clients the confidence and skills to become independent.
7. To provide a point of contact for patients and medical/clinical staff, ensuring that client concerns are answered with skill, sensitivity and expediency.
8. To support carers in their role. This may include communication and liaison with other agencies, including partnership agencies.
9. To provide practical/personal support for people identified as having complex needs and signpost to the relevant health or social services.
10. To support clients with their personal and emotional care needs, whilst respecting their dignity and maximising their independence.
11. To collate monthly activity data and produce charts in Excel in order to support quarterly reports, liaising with the information department to ensure correct data is collected.
Person Specification
Experience
* Recent hospital or community experience
* Experience in care for the elderly or frail
* Experience with chronic disease advice and management
Additional Criteria
* Car driver with a valid license to drive in the UK with access to transport to be used for business purposes
Qualifications
* Good standard of education
