Job overview
We are excited to be recruiting a clinical/counselling psychologist in our Sutton integrated recovery hub service. Psychologists are highly valued in the service and you will work closely alongside other Psychologists at the same level and at Principal and Consultant level. You will also work with Psychiatrists, CPNs, Mental Health & Wellbeing Practitioners, Recovery & Support Workers and Specialist Employment Advisors to provide high quality treatment and recovery options for service users with severe mental health conditions.
This post is established at 8a level but we welcome applications from final year Clinical / Counselling Psychologists Trainee Clinical Psychologists, and from Psychologists with less than 18 months post qualification experience, who could progress from a Band 7 preceptorship to a Band 8a in this post.
For preceptorship posts, there will be dedicated CPD funding, and the opportunity to work one session per week in a different service in the Trust, to further develop specialist clinical skills.
Main duties of the job
The role focuses on providing evidence-based psychological therapies for severe and enduring mental health conditions. This post offers opportunities for further training and development.
* Developing the psychology therapy support within the Team.
* Providing comprehensive psychological assessment to parents with mental health difficulties.
* Holding a caseload of complex families.
* Overseeing and developing psychological group programmes for parents.
* Providing clinical supervision and line management of Mental Health Practitioners.
The Trust supports staff to attend Health Education England funded training in interventions such as CBT for psychosis & bipolar disorder. There may also be opportunities to train in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and EMDR therapy.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* To provide specialist psychological assessments of clients.
* To formulate and implement plans for psychological treatment and/or management.
* To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions.
* To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options.
* To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients.
* To provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals.
* To contribute to a psychologically based framework of understanding and care.
* To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients.
* To act as care coordinator, where appropriate.
* To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner regarding clients' care.
Person specification
Experience
* Experience of assessment and treatment of people with mental health problems.
* Demonstrate further specialist training/experience with a minimum of 50 hours clinical supervision.
* Experience with routine outcome monitoring.
* Experience in establishing diagnosis/psychological formulation.
* Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
* Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.
* Experience of working within a multicultural framework.
* Experience of meeting agreed service targets.
Training and Qualifications
* Doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Formal training in supervision of other psychologists.
* Registered with the Health & Care Professions Council.
* Eligible for accreditation as a CBT therapist with BABCP.
* BABCP Accreditation as CBT practitioner.
* Trained in EMDR therapy.
Knowledge & Skills
* Skilled in complex methods of psychological assessment intervention and management.
* Well-developed communication skills.
* Skills in providing consultation to other professionals.
* Knowledge of our business and how it supports patient care.
* Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies.
* Knowledge of the academic literature concerning common mental disorders.
