About The Job Salary: £55,484 - £59,777 a year plus £963 essential car user (subject to criteria) Hours per week: 37 Contract type: Permanent Luton Council is seeking a highly motivated Medical Education Coordinator to join our dedicated team, working to support the educational needs of vulnerable children and young people. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that pupils with medical needs, SEND, and those facing challenging circumstances receive the educational provision and support they need to thrive. Key Responsibilities Provide education support for pupils with SEND, medical needs, and children who are hard to engage. Work in partnership with families and a range of external agencies to develop tailored educational solutions for pupils with complex needs. Ensure the safeguarding of children through timely and appropriate referrals, working within multi-agency frameworks. Lead a small, professional team, maintaining a well-motivated and effective environment. Prioritise and manage your workload effectively while contributing to the overall strategy and improvement of educational services. Implement policies, strategies, and initiatives to enhance educational opportunities for underachieving, vulnerable, and hard-to-reach groups. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of statutory guidance and legislation, including exclusions, alternative provisions, and medical absence. Please note this role does not attract sponsorship. About You Key Requirements : Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience teaching pupils with SEND and vulnerable groups. Proven track record of multi-agency working in an educational setting to safeguard children and resolve complex challenges. Excellent communication, presentation, influencing, and negotiation skills, with the ability to write high-quality reports and present clear recommendations. Strong organisational and leadership skills, able to motivate and manage a small team. A good understanding of the SEN Code of Practice, exclusions, and alternative provision regulations. Demonstrable knowledge of equality legislation and the ability to integrate these principles into service delivery. IT literate, with experience using office systems such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Evidence of continuing professional development. Willingness to travel across the borough and attend evening meetings as required. Why Luton Council?
