JOB PURPOSE:
To assist the service manager in the delivery and operation of high-quality cost-effective children’s homes through the effective management of staff, supervision of practice and setting of standards.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. As Registered Manager, lead and manage the staff team through clear aims and objectives to meet the assessed priority needs of children in care within the parameters of the Children’s Homes Regulations and National Minimum Standards, and Cheshire West and Chester Council policy.
2. Authorise and monitor expenditure against budget provision within delegated responsibility for resources within the children’s home in accordance with Cheshire West and Chester Council policy and financial regulations.
3. Assist the service manager in the recruitment and deployment of the residential staff in accordance with the appropriate Cheshire West and Chester Council policies; in order to secure the highest standards of service delivery.
4. Manage staff performance, conduct, attendance and risk, in accordance with appropriate policies; working with the service manager to set the culture and values to promote high professional standards and deliver best-value services.
5. Lead team meetings, assess the development needs of staff by undertaking supervision and appraisal, and work with other registered managers identify training requirement of residential staff across the service.
6. Allocate and priorities the workload of the care team overseeing, monitoring and reviewing the individual children’s placement plan, ensuring the full and correct use of all recording and information systems to monitor and evaluate work. To be involved with the social workers and parents in order to deliver an individualised service.
7. To be responsible for health, fire and safety regulations and matters relating to the building and surrounding areas and the physical environment is maintained to the highest possible standard.
8. Identify and manage risk for children through the application of risk assessment techniques, appropriate interventions in complex cases, and compliance with Child Protection; to ensure the safety and well-being of children, and to meet the expectations of carers and the general public.
9. Assist the service manager in the response to all formal and informal complaints made by or on behalf of service users; by the application of the Cheshire West and Chester Council complaints procedures to ensure a speedy resolution and briefing and monitoring the staff team in the application of professional learning.
You must have:
* Enhanced DBS/Update service.
* References required for the last 5 years of employment.
