Location: Based at Hampton Court Palace, with some hybrid working, this role involves regular travel to our other London sites and occasional weekend work.
About Us
We are the independent charity that loves and looks after six of the most wonderful palaces in the world. The palaces are the setting for the stories that shape us all, and we’re bringing them to people in ways that mean more to them. We want everyone to find themselves in the spaces and stories we share.
This is an exciting time to join Historic Royal Palaces as we roll out a new strategy focused on becoming a charity for everyone. A key goal is to “reach every school in the UK,” and you could help us achieve this by becoming our next Learning Assistant.
The Role
As a Learning Assistant, you'll support the Schools & Communities team in delivering our onsite school visit program and online sessions. You'll respond to teacher inquiries, providing excellent customer service and detailed information about our school programmes. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential, as you'll collaborate with colleagues across multiple sites. The role also includes some front-of-house duties, greeting school groups at the Clore Learning Centre and assisting with events during school holidays and occasional weekends. You may also be asked to support at other sites like the Tower of London and Kensington Palace.
You’ll work closely with the Deputy Operations Manager and three other Learning Assistants.
Benefits include:
* Enhanced holiday entitlement
* Generous Employers Pension Contributions (up to 11%)
* Annual Pay reviews & Bonuses
* Critical Illness Cover & Life Assurance
* Family friendly policies and benefits
* Staff discounts and membership to all palaces
What We’re Looking For
You’ll have experience delivering excellent customer service in a busy, customer-facing role, along with office administration skills. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is essential, and experience with GDPR-compliant databases is a plus, as you'll use our school booking system (Kinetics).
Organizational skills are key, as you’ll manage busy email accounts and handle the fast-paced demands of our school visit program. Flexibility is also important to address last-minute operational challenges, so you must be quick to troubleshoot and think on your feet.
You’ll need to communicate confidently with teachers via email, phone, and in person, with strong attention to detail. Familiarity with school curriculums and an understanding of teachers’ needs when planning visits is helpful, along with a genuine interest in working with schools and young people.
This role involves working with young people and will therefore be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at enhanced level.
Closing date: Sunday 12 January 2025
We have adopted a hybrid model of part working from home and part working from site, we are open to discussing what best works for individuals and their work-life balance whilst also delivering the business requirements.
