Job overview
The purpose of the job is to work closely with the Trust Lead Doctor for adults with Learning Disabilities and autism and the Integrated Safeguarding Team in supporting all activities necessary to ensure that the Trust meets its responsibilities to patients with a learning disability. This work will promote best practices, implement standards, and monitor processes in line with both national and local multi-agency guidelines.
Main duties of the job
1. Act as an expert with up-to-date knowledge of national standards and support compliance across the Trust.
2. Liaise with internal and external teams regularly, sharing information to support the health and wellbeing of people with a learning disability.
3. Ensure the Trust is compliant with CQC fundamental standards regarding learning disabilities.
4. Daily visibility within clinical areas to support and direct staff in supporting patients who have a learning disability.
5. Act as a patient advocate, supporting patients to access appropriate advocacy services.
6. Contribute to the planning, delivery, and evaluation of safeguarding adults training in the Trust.
7. Investigate and respond to complaints and incidents within this area as required.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Registered Social Worker
* Further education in Learning Disability and Autism
Experience
* Experience working as a Learning Disability advisor
* Experience working in an acute setting
