The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity to act as Topic Lead for the planning and installation of earthing and surge protection systems on the major nuclear new build project Hinkley Point C.
Your duties and responsibilities will be:
1. To be the JV topic lead for the installation of the Earthing and Surge Protection scope and the interface to the wider project.
2. To provide safety advice and guidance relating to the installation of the Earthing and Surge Protection.
3. To develop the JV Earthing and Surge Protection systems scope delivery strategy.
4. To support the building delivery teams to prepare the documentation required for the installation of the Earthing and Surge Protection and associated works.
5. Liaise with the execution designers, equipment suppliers, and EPM team to ensure that the requirements and information are provided to support the installation of the Earthing and Surge Protection in line with the JV installation strategy.
6. To ensure that “best for project” decisions are implemented for the Earthing and Surge Protection scope.
7. To support the development of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for the JV Earthing and Surge Protection systems scope.
8. To liaise with the completions team regarding the process for closing out the JV obligations prior to handing the scope over to the commissioning team.
Your key deliverables will be:
1. Ensure the consistent delivery of the Earthing and Surge Protection scope across all areas and buildings by providing timely and relevant information to all area and building leads.
2. Promote and maintain health and safety to support a positive Nuclear Safety Culture.
3. Risk management and mitigation strategies.
4. Support the planning and training of the blue-collar trades required for the scope.
5. Liaise and coordinate with the execution designers, EPM team, and equipment manufacturers to ensure that the full installation requirements are known, and interfaces are identified and resolved.
6. Liaise and coordinate with the equipment manufacturers regarding product familiarisation and factory training where required.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
1. Minimum of 10 years’ experience in MEH construction project management.
2. A good working knowledge of electrical earthing installations.
3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
4. Up to date knowledge of workplace/construction Health and Safety.
5. Degree/HND/HNC – Electrical Engineering (or suitable work experience).
6. Proficient use of IT and MS Office software.
7. IOSH Managing Safely.
8. CCNSG or HSE MaPs Safety Passport.
9. Awareness of the UK nuclear site licence conditions application.
10. Awareness of the UK CDM regulations.
11. Awareness of nuclear quality requirements.
