Commissioning Manager (UK & Europe Travel)
Salary: £70,000 - £95,000
Location: UK-based with European travel opportunities
We are looking for an Commissioning Manager to join our team and take responsibility for the safe operation, maintenance, and management of high voltage electrical systems. In this role, you will oversee and perform HV switching operations, isolations, and safety procedures, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to work across various locations in the UK and Europe, with travel involved on a shift pattern basis.
Key Responsibilities:
1. HV Switching Operations: Conduct and supervise both planned and unplanned HV switching operations, isolations, and restorations in line with approved safety schedules.
2. Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, company safety standards, and operational procedures. Issue safety documents such as Permits to Work, Sanctions for Tests, and Limitations of Access.
3. Risk Assessment & Safety Systems: Carry out risk assessments, implement Lock Out Tag Out systems, and develop method statements (RAMS) for HV works.
4. Maintenance & Inspections: Coordinate inspections, testing, and maintenance of HV systems and infrastructure, including transformers, switchgear, and protection systems.
5. Documentation: Maintain thorough and accurate records of all HV switching activities and logbooks.
6. Ongoing Development: Keep your HV authorisation up to date through regular training and development.
Qualifications & Background:
1. Essential:
2. Authorised to operate HV electrical systems in accordance with local regulations.
3. NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
4. Extensive background in HV systems operation, maintenance, and switching.
5. Strong knowledge of electrical safety regulations (e.g., Electricity at Work Regulations, BS 7671).
6. City & Guilds 6156-01 (or equivalent) in High Voltage Operational Safety.

8. Exposure to large industrial or data centre environments.
9. Leadership or supervisory roles in electrical settings.
Skills & Competencies:
1. In-depth technical knowledge of HV electrical systems and switchgear.
2. Strong communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and external contractors.
3. High attention to detail and a commitment to safety protocols.
4. Ability to perform well under pressure, particularly in emergency or fault situations.
