Main duties of the job
Working life
As a Highly Specialist Children's Speech and Language Therapist, you'll:
* Provide clinical leadership to a designated group of S<'s
* Independently manage a caseload of highly complex cases
* Provide timely S< advice, reports and programmes to be integrated within the child or young person's daily curriculum
* Utilise technology to enable you to update records as you go
The service aims to provide an excellent standard of care that supports patients across Northamptonshire. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support the service and balance clinical appointments with other responsibilities and allocate significant time for intervention in every role.
Must have skills
You will need to be adaptable and resourceful. You'll need to be well organised, confident and able to cope in diverse situations to deliver patient care. Leadership and management skills are also important, as with all nursing roles, communication skills, problem solving and good judgement are crucial.
You will have an induction period with shadowing and joint sessions, as well as regular peer group supervisions if applicable.

Person Specification Knowledge and Experience
Essential
* Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree or equivalent qualification.
* Member of the RCSLT
* Registered as Speech and Language Therapist with the Health Care Professions Council.
* Valid UK driving licence, access to vehicle and able to drive to different locations within working hours is essential.
* Experience of C&YP with SEND, EHC process and provision
* Experience in leadership/supervision activities.
Desirable
* Member of relevant CEN.
* A post graduate qualification relating to speech and language therapy is desirable
Skills and Abilities
Essential
* Knowledge and application of SLT assessments and specialist interventions relevant to client group.
* Ability to work independently and organise a varied specialist caseload, meeting competing demands.
* Provide second opinions and supervision for therapists working with Children and Young People (CYP) with SEND
* Experience of delivering training
