Management Accountant
A Management Accountant has to both analyse financial data and use the results to implement and shape an organisation's overall financial strategy. This generally translates into identifying financial trends, preparing reports on findings, and presenting results which can then be distilled into actionable policies. Management Accountants will often liaise with senior management and assess financial systems and tools. Additional responsibilities will tend to include capital expenditure management, motivating and managing an accounting team, and constantly monitoring and improving processes, to name a few.
Management Accountants will need to have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the confidence to regularly work with and present to senior management. Leadership skills and the ability to motivate and successfully manage a team are also fundamental. Accredited accountancy qualifications, as well as any related business development or management qualifications, will also be valuable. Being highly analytical with an attention to detail is also crucial for success. Strong numeracy skills are also essential.
