The Foundation Industry Sustainability Consortium (FISC) is seeking a dynamic FISC Director to lead our mission to strengthen the foundation industries in the UK. Join us to drive the transformation towards sustainable, low-carbon, and resource-efficient practices across the UK Foundation Industry sector.

About Us:
FISC is dedicated to scaling and accelerating innovation within the foundation industries, supporting a skilled and diverse workforce, and contributing to the UK economy. As FISC Director, you will play a pivotal role in delivering the FISC Vision and managing the day-to-day operations of the core team.
The FISC partners are Centre for Process Innovation, Henry Royce Institute, Glass Futures, Lucideon, and the Materials Processing Institute. Together they bring over £500m of research and innovation capability for Foundation Industry innovation.
The role could be based at any of the FISC partner centres across the North West, Midlands, and North East on a hybrid basis.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop substantive innovation programmes which span the Foundation Industries.
* Be the public ambassador and face of FISC.
* Lead on strategy, policy development, and advocacy.
* Foster collaboration among partners to build trust and fulfill FISC’s mission.
* Define key priorities, direction, and personnel requirements.
* Secure investment to support FISC and its mission of supporting innovation for the Foundation Industries.
* Build and maintain academic, industry, and public partnerships.
* Support the FISC Board in setting strategic direction and operational excellence.
Who We’re Looking For:
* We are looking for a senior leader with an international profile in advanced materials, who brings:
* Proven leadership in materials and innovation with a global perspective.
* Experience in managing resources, budgets, staff, and risk effectively.
* Commercial experience, including fundraising, IP exploitation, and industry networking.
* Outstanding communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
* Strategic vision with an entrepreneurial mindset to create and seize opportunities.
* A collaborative and inclusive leadership style with strong emotional intelligence.
* Experience with delivering innovation through distributed centres and teams.
