The School Organisation Programme Team within the Education Directorate is responsible for the effective planning of school places in Cardiff, and ensuring the delivery of school places through a range of building adaptations, extensions and new build schools. It also manages the change in organisation of schools and the establishment of new schools. In addition, the team is responsible for large capital budgets relating to large-scale asset renewal projects, suitable and equality access projects, and is responsible for the health and safety of Education staff, users and pupils, with respect to the safety and suitability of school premises.

This is a key post responsible for the delivery of large capital budgets relating to asset renewal projects, suitable and equality access projects, and is responsible for the health and safety of Education staff, users and pupils, with respect to the safety and suitability of school premises.
Duties include commissioning others to deliver a range of building improvement works in schools, ensuring the projects are well defined and operate in a project management environment, through the development of project briefs. The post will also support in the generation of an annual and long-term programme of building improvement works in schools to include Planned Preventative Maintenance Plans with schools.
The post holder will ensure that all improvement projects delivered by others are developed and delivered on time, to specification and within budget. They will take a lead role in communicating with stakeholders and work effectively with them and all involved to ensure smooth delivery of the projects. Support to schools is also a key feature of the role, helping them to resolve building issues both by internal and external service providers.
What We Are Looking For From You
You must have experience working within a school maintenance and buildings environment. You will also have experience of effectively enabling project teams to deliver across a wide range of disciplines. You will need to be confident in your ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders and be able to manage challenging situations and stakeholders.
