As the Transport Supervisor you will report to the UK Transport Manager, the main purpose of the role will be to take the lead in key areas, including compliance in transportation arrangements, driver workload management and supervision of subcontractors to ensure Biocair’s service levels are consistently maintained.
The Transport Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the highest quality of service and solutions are provided to both Biocair clients and offices alike. Under guidance from the Transport & Warehouse Manager, you will be required to perform additional tasks to contribute to the delivery of regional strategic and financial objectives.
Responsibilities will include:
* Supervise the Transport Co-ordinator’s driver routes (collections and deliveries) to ensure all collections and deliveries are made on time, and in accordance with either the Working Time Directive or UK/EU regulations.
* Supervise sub-contraction of any collections or deliveries which cannot be performed in-house as and when required, ensuring all necessary costs are added to jobs and proactively manage costs at all times by capturing and challenging suppliers on costs.
* Carry out daily supervision of the drivers within the Cambridge fleet to ensure all tasks are completed on time and in good condition
* Complete regular 1:2:1’s, objective setting and reviews for all drivers, with support from the UK Transport Manager.
* Check timesheets are completed correctly, breaks taken in accordance with either the Working Time Directive or UK/EU regulations.
* Carry out driver de-briefs daily and report any issues to the appropriate person
* Investigate and resolve any day-to-day driver issues, escalating to Transport Manager where necessary.
* Develop and maintain good relationships with outside agencies to ensure that the company complies with all legal requirements and regulations to enhance and safeguard the company’s reputation.
* Liaises with other Biocair departments, offices, suppliers and service partners as necessary to ensure that the desired level of customer service is maintained.

In addition, you will demonstrate these key competencies:
* Significant and demonstrable operations experience with a specialist courier and logistics company within the life science and pharmaceutical industries.
* Excellent communicator at all levels, both verbal and written, with a passion for providing customer service excellence.
* Proven ability to work well under time pressure
* International export/customs experience
* Intermediate MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Please note this is a full time role, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 19:00 the role also includes 1 weekend a month and is offered as 100% onsite from our Sawston Warehouse (CB22 3TJ).
