As a Quantity Surveyor will join a team of cost managers and project managers on a variety of projects in the energy sector. Your role will assist project teams with the formation of contract procurement documentation and commercial administration activities of contracts during the execution phase to help support the safe, successful delivery of our client’s programme, projects and business objectives. The Quantity Surveyor provides a professional commercial support service to the client’s programme / project teams through the efficient identification, procurement and administration of contracts, identifying and controlling costs and commercial risks & opportunities and forecasting in support of the Programme / Project Execution Plans. You should have great interpersonal skills that will enable you to build up positive and effective relationships within both the project teams and wider client organisation. Role accountabilities: Work independently within established financial systems to monitor and review project costs and variances on small commercial/regeneration/residential projects, in order to control cost variables Deliver/assist to manage medium to large scale cost projects or significant components of cost management assignments, ensuring the delivery of the required scope of work within set deadlines Understand and comply with business risk and present any project concerns or issues to senior managers to ensure the project is not adversely impacted Provide advice to colleagues on principles of risk management, to ensure adherence to the organisation’s risk and compliance processes Analyse and review a range of data to collate trends and prepare documentation such as delivery plans, providing advice and making recommendations to support cost and commercial management decision-making Use own knowledge and experience to review and analyse existing cost and commercial management processes and policies, sharing knowledge and taking an active involvement in service improvement and innovation Interact with internal and external customers, applying technical knowledge to complete complex, professional level tasks in order to ensure projects/programmes can be delivered to meet customer expectations Provide specialist technical advice and guidance within area, supporting others with cost management queries and actively sharing knowledge in order to inform colleagues and provide a high level of service to clients Collaborate with external stakeholders to gain an in-depth understanding of their needs in order to resolve stakeholder issues and provide quality client care, contributing to ongoing client satisfaction Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience Relevant professional qualification or chartered status with a relevant professional institution i.e. RICS, CIPS, ICE, CIOB etc. Demonstrable experience with the NEC suite of contracts Experience in delivering analysis and insights Demonstration of self-management and prioritisation skills with the ability to work under pressure Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to influence stakeholders and third parties Capable of taking a project through from inception to completion Why Arcadis?
