About the role The Operations Director is responsible for driving the revenue growth to achieve required targets, whilst enhancing our core PPM and service delivery model to our acute NHS, Education and Commercial client base. They will be integral to creating development/succession plans for personnel within and continuing the “grow your own” ethos already present within the company. This role requires a dynamic leader with a deep understanding of the technical Hard FM services industry, exceptional relationship-building skills, and the ability to develop and execute business strategies that align with the company’s goals. The role will manage a direct team of BU Heads (x5) and Contract Managers (x13) with a total commercial value of £40M, all of which is primarily delivered by our in-house engineering and apprentices’ team of 100. Key responsibilities Strategic Leadership: Oversee the operational performance of all contracts, ensuring efficiency, profitability, and service excellence. Responsibility for H&S and broader compliance with regulations. Reporting key operational metrics in line with Group KPIs. Contribution to positive culture that supports staff retention. P&L Management: Take full ownership of £40M department driving cost efficiencies and maximising profitability. Responsible for achieving and exceeding departmental agreed budget Sales Margins. Working closely with Finance to manage and resolve aged debt matters and P&L performance on a per contract basis. Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and contract retention. Operational Excellence Implement best practices for PPM and service delivery, ensuring compliance with health & safety regulations and industry standards. Focus on enhancing valued engineering and technology to partner the clients carbon reduction plan associated to all M&E plant. Team Leadership & Development Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team, driving engagement and performance. Responsible for ensuring statutory training of the team is in date Business Growth & Innovation: Identify opportunities for contract growth, service improvements. Support BD with any bid, presentations or opportunities which will aid S&M growth. Key Requirements Experience Extensive experience in leadership and accomplishments within the Hard FM services sectors. Proven success in growing an S&M Division where you have tangibly added value and improved performance. Skills and Competencies Strong commercial acumen with the ability to craft client-centric, flexible solutions. Exceptional leadership, influencing, and stakeholder management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to client and Group stakeholders of all levels. Analytical and results driven. Proficiency in CAFM software and business analytics tools. Proficient in IT, notably with MS Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint. Qualifications Degree-level education or equivalent experience.
