Role Overview:
Teaching Personnel is looking to recruit a passionate and dedicated Religious Education (RE) Teacher to join a highly regarded secondary school in Reddish, Stockport. This is a full-time maternity cover position, beginning in January, at a school known for its diverse and inclusive environment. The role will involve teaching RE across various key stages, ensuring that students are engaged and challenged in their understanding of world religions, ethics, and moral philosophy.
Key Responsibilities:
* Curriculum Delivery: Teach engaging and thought-provoking RE lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring students gain a thorough understanding of different religious beliefs, practices, and ethical perspectives.
* Lesson Planning: Develop creative lesson plans that encourage critical thinking, reflection, and debate. Ensure lessons are tailored to meet the needs of all students, incorporating a variety of learning styles and activities.
* Assessment: Regularly assess student progress through written work, discussions, and assessments. Provide detailed and constructive feedback to support students in their personal and academic growth.
* Classroom Management: Create a positive and respectful classroom environment where students feel safe to explore sensitive and complex topics. Promote open dialogue and mutual respect in line with the school’s ethos.
* Exam Preparation: Prepare students for GCSE RE examinations, offering support and guidance on exam techniques, essay writing, and revision strategies. Ensure that all students are well-equipped to achieve their potential.
* Collaboration: Work closely with the Humanities department and other colleagues to develop and share resources, ensuring consistency in curriculum delivery. Contribute to department meetings and planning sessions as needed.
* Extracurricular Activities: Encourage and support extracurricular activities related to RE, such as interfaith events, ethical debates, or school trips that enhance the students' understanding of global religions and cultures.
* Parent and Colleague Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with parents, carers, and colleagues regarding student progress, and provide additional support where necessary.
Ideal Candidate:
* Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a degree in Religious Education, Theology, or a related field.
* Experience: Previous experience teaching RE at secondary school level, with a strong understanding of the RE curriculum and exam requirements.
* Skills: Excellent communication and classroom management skills, with the ability to foster an inclusive and reflective learning environment. Confidence in handling sensitive and diverse topics related to religion and ethics.
* Passion for RE: A commitment to inspiring students to think critically about the role of religion in society, helping them develop an understanding of their own values and those of others.
