1. Key areas of responsibility 3.1. CLINICAL 3.1.1 To carry out radiographic examinations across a range of modalities to the agreed standard of the department. 3.1.2 To maintain a high standard of patient care and comfort and be patient focused at all times. 3.1.3 To work in an efficient and effective manner at all times. 3.1.4 To appear on duty promptly and appropriately dressed and behave in a professional manner at all times. 3.1.5 To plan, prioritise and organise own workload. 3.1.6 To vet request forms for validity and appropriateness. 3.1.7 To determine whether repeat X-rays or extra projections are required. 3.1.8 To undertake IV injections in line with departmental policy. 3.1.9 To report any untoward incidents and equipment failure to the area superintendent radiographer. 3.1.10 To work unsupervised as and when required. 3.1.11 To work using own initiative but be aware own limitations and seek guidance when necessary. 3.1.12 To work flexibly based on requirements of service. 3.1.13 To carry out duties which may be considered necessary and consistent with the responsibilities of the post. 3.2 COMMUNICATION 3.2.1 To liaise and communicate effectively with other staff both within and external to the department regarding patient care and ensure that effective communication is implemented and maintained. 3.2.2 To keep accurate records of patient examinations in line with departmental protocols. 3.2.3 To be familiar with the RIS departmental system and to ensure all examinations have been entered onto the system and post entered. 4. General responsibilities 4.1 MANAGEMENT 4.1.1 To be actively involved in the department audit and quality assurance programme. 4.1.2 To deputise for more senior radiographers as and when required. 4.1.3 To supervise junior members of staff and help expand their knowledge and skills. 4. TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT 4.1.4 To undertake any formal or informal training required to fulfil the needs of the post. 4.1.5 To expand and update your own technical and professional skills. 4.1.6 To assist in the clinical instruction and assessment of student radiographers. 4.1.7 To participate in the departmental appraisal system. 4.1.8 To supervise other staff undertaking IV injections 4.1.9 To participate in and fully contribute to departmental and professional activities. 4.1.10 To undertake all mandatory training in line with Trust and Department policies including Manual Handling, Infection Control and Trust Statutory Study Day. 4.1.11 To undertake continuous professional development in line with College of Radiographers and Health Professions Council guidelines. 5. OTHER DUTIES 4.2.1 To participate in the departmental out of hours rotation including weekend, evening and night shifts. Once the agenda for change 7 day working week is implemented within the department to take part in this shift system 4.2.2 To observe the Code of Practice for the use of Ionising Radiations and the IR(ME)R regulations. 4.2.3 To be aware of and adhere to Trust, Directorate and Department policies. 5.
