Our client is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive growth and expand the client base of a leading Mechanical and Electrical £24M turnover contractor based in Surrey. They offer property maintenance services, as well as projects across the Retail, Healthcare, Leisure, Commercial and Social Housing Sectors.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in business development, strong industry knowledge, and the ability to foster long-term relationships with clients.
Business Growth Plan: 3-Year Strategy
Objective: Achieve a minimum of 15% annual growth in turnover, aiming for a total turnover of approximately £35 million by the end of Year 3.
Key Responsibilities:
Market Research and Analysis:
* Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities and industry trends.
* Analyze competitor activities and market positioning to inform strategic decisions.
Client Acquisition:
* Develop and implement strategies to attract new clients and expand market share.
* Identify and engage potential clients through networking, cold calling, and industry events.
Relationship Management:
* Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.
* Act as the primary point of contact for key accounts, understanding their needs and delivering tailored solutions.
Proposal Development:
* Collaborate with technical teams to prepare compelling proposals and presentations for prospective clients.
* Ensure proposals are aligned with client requirements and company capabilities.
Sales Strategy and Execution:
* Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to achieve sales targets and drive revenue growth.
* Monitor sales performance and adjust strategies as necessary to meet objectives.
Collaboration with Internal Teams:
* Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery and client satisfaction.
* Facilitate communication between departments to align business development efforts with operational capabilities.
Networking and Industry Engagement:
* Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to promote the company and build relationships.
* Represent the company in professional associations and community organizations.
Reporting and Analysis:
* Prepare regular reports on business development activities, market conditions, and sales performance for senior management.
* Utilize CRM tools to track leads, opportunities, and client interactions.
Strategic Planning:
* Participate in the development of long-term strategic plans to ensure sustainable growth and profitability.
* Contribute insights and recommendations based on market analysis and client feedback.
Qualifications:
* Proven experience in business development, preferably within the Mechanical and Electrical contracting industry.
* Strong understanding of industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
* Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with clients and internal teams.
* Proficient in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
