Owing to the complex nature of the projects were are involved in, this role will suit an Assistant Project Manager from a Defence, Nuclear, Infrastructure or Construction background looking to build their experience, and shape a career within the defence infrastructure sector. You could be looking to make a career move into Project Management, have recently made this career move, or completed a Project Management apprenticeship or graduate scheme and looking for a new challenge. You might also be a transitioning service member looking to make a career in within construction, engineering, national security. As an Assistant Project Manager joining the Defence North team, you will find yourself supporting our clients to deliver a range of construction infrastructure projects and programmes across the North of the UK spanning from the Midlands, Cumbria, North East to Scotland with additional opportunities to work on projects across the rest of the UK. The team is made up of over 40 people with our central office is in Manchester, however we have team members based all over the North of the UK such as but not limited to Nottingham, Leeds, Barrow, and Glasgow. This will be a consultancy-based role, working in a client-focused environment – where we are measured on working closely with clients, while taking personal responsibility in dealing with clients and striving to go above their expectations. We anticipate you being on client sites or Turner & Townsend offices 60% of your time which could include travel, but this may flex depending on client and business requirements. MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE: Assist the Project Manager in managing and developing small to medium projects or work streams as part of larger projects to deliver the required outcomes. Assist in establishing effective processes and systems to be utilized throughout the project. Producing and maintaining project plans To assist in identifying Risk, Quality and Scope Management issues. Monitoring and documenting project progress and other performance indicators. Tracking and documenting changes. Risk Management To prepare written project communication materials, and project reports. Assist the Project Management managing monthly budgeting/forecasting and managing project budgets. Managing the schedule and controlling the time elements of projects Liasing with internal and external stakeholders Building long-term trusted advisor relationships with our clients. Requirements Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject Experience in project reporting and presenting experience within a project management environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office Have an awareness of project plans and familiarity with project planning software such as Primavera or Microsoft project.
